SENIORS - Class of 2017
Many seniors who have applied to colleges have been waiting for this month! Although some have already heard from various colleges, decisions from the CSU and UC systems will not be complete until the end of March and many private colleges do not release decisions until April 1. The universal day to let colleges know of your intent to register (SIR) is May 1st. Housing deadlines may be earlier. If your student is placed on a waitlist, you may want to read this article from College Board on what to do if you're on one: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/apply/letters-are-in/124.html
In a letter of appeal, colleges are looking for information considered “new and compelling.” The admissions officers are interested in information not available, or changed since the application was filed.
If you applied to a college that requires a mid-year report (most common app schools do*) you must submit a request for your mid-year, 7th semester, transcript to be sent. To make this request please follow ALL of the steps listed below:
1. You should have already requested an initial transcript for the college/s. Be sure the request was submitted through your Naviance account.
a. Delivery/Pick-Up: select "please mail to the colleges below"
b. Send Transcript: select "after first semester grades"
c. College Name, Address and Attn: note "mid-year" and list the name of each college you need a mid-year transcript sent to. No need to include the address or attn.
*To check if a member college requires a mid-year report, click the name of the institution in the online requirements grid and refer to the School Forms Required section.
California Public Colleges: UC and CSU campuses do not want a transcript at this time unless specifically requested. These institutions base their admissions decisions on the "self-reported" grade information in the application. Students should check email and the web portal created for him/her by each college.
Seniors remember SAT and ACT Scores should have been sent directly to the colleges. Help is available at any time in the College/Career Center.
Attention Senior Athletes
If you plan to play a sport in college, you need to register with the NCAA and send an official transcript. You are required to complete 16 core academic courses for Division I and Division II. Go to the website to register. See your counselor if you have questions.
