SENIORS - Class of 2017
Many seniors who have applied to colleges have been waiting for this month! Although many students are excited about their next step after leaving Las Lomas, it can also be a stressful time and a bit scary too.
Be sensitive in your comments to seniors ….
Although students have heard from colleges, most have not yet made decisions regarding their destination for the coming year. For many it is an extremely difficult decision – students have received rejections or been waitlisted, or finances for the desired college might be an issue. While waiting until the student brings up the subject is probably the best, if you feel the need to bring up the topic ask an open ended question such as “What are you thinking about for next year?” See the following articles:
The universal day to let colleges know of your intent to register (SIR) is May 1st. Housing deadlines may be earlier. If your student is placed on a waitlist, you may want to read this article from College Board on What to Do if You're Wait-Listed.
In a letter of appeal, colleges are looking for information considered “new and compelling.” The admissions officers are interested in information not available, or changed since the application was filed.
Parents - We Could Use Your Help!!
On April 28th, the Senior Class will be enjoying their Senior Picnic, which is a time for them to gather with their classmates for lunch on the Softball Field. This is a FREE event to seniors. Students can pick up their FREE memory boards and their panoramic pictures at the picnic. If they miss the picnic, they can pick these items up at lunch on Monday, May 1st. Please remind your student.
Memory Boards are a collage of photos and memorabilia that represent your senior's life, from birth through high school. This is the chance for you and your family to create a framework of photos to commemorate your time in school. The boards will be displayed at the Senior Awards and Senior Breakfast and returned to your students as memorable keepsakes. If you are interested in participating, your student can pick up the FREE memory boards at the picnic. Memory Boards will need to be turned in by Friday, MAY 19th! Contact Kirsten Miller if you have any questions about the memory board.
We are accepting completed Memory Boards any time after Senior Picnic. Please bring them into the Main Office - there will be a bin for the Memory Boards under the front counter.
Graduation Cap & Gowns
Caps, Gowns, and Tassels will be distributed during the Senior Breakfast on May 31st.

Send a note to a Graduating Senior!
A popular tradition at the Las Lomas All-Knighter is the Post Office. This is where seniors receive notes written by friends, family, teachers and staff. This is an easy way to send a “thinking of you” message, a favorite quote or a congratulatory note to a graduate on graduation night. Please encourage friends and family members to join you in writing a brief message of congratulations to your graduate!
· Student’s first and last name in the subject line of email
· The senders name at the end (so student knows who is sending the message)
Messages will be printed and placed in the Graduate’s post office box at the All- Knighter!
