"Raising Resilient and Optimistic Children" a presentation by Dr. Abby Medcalf
The Las Lomas High School PTSA is proud to present an evening of education with Dr. Abby Medcalf.
Dr. Medcalf will speak about the importance of raising, teaching, and supporting adolescents and children to have a positive outlook about themselves and life. This presentation will introduce you to the research and science of Positive Psychology and resiliency.
Please join us on Tuesday February 7, 2012 at 7pm in the Las Lomas Theater to hear this popular keynote speaker. There is no charge for this event.
PTSA Mission
The Las Lomas PTSA is a member of the Las Trampas Creek Council of PTAs under the California State PTA and the National PTA. The mission of the Parent Teacher Association, a national organization, is to be:
- A powerful voice for all children,
- A relevant resource for families and communities, and
- A strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child.
The many volunteers of the Las Lomas PTSA assist with a myriad of projects and programs:
- Produce our Student/Parent Directory
- Provide cutting-edge Parent-Teen Education Programs
- Run a vital Healthy Choices Program that promotes student health and wellness
- Provide informative school-wide eCommunications newsletters and website
- Provide valuable scholarships and awards to deserving students
- Manage and promote the Las Lomas eScrip program
- Have a pro-active Legislative Advocacy Committee that represents Las Lomas in Sacramento
- Support and help fund “Every 15 Minutes” student program
- Reach out to new families arriving during the school year
- Help staff create and execute Parent Surveys
- Provide much-needed support to our wonderful Las Lomas Staff
- Coordinate volunteers for various student events
- Manage “Finals Fuel” Week that provides nourishing snacks to our students during Finals Week
- Support the Las Lomas Student Leadership Program
- Partner with the WCEF, Performing Arts Foundation, Athletic Boosters, Alumni Association and Parent (Class) Advisors.
